AWARD WINNING COMEDIAN, CHRISTIAN JEGARD ‘EXPLORES’ JERSEY’S MUSIC SCENE IN NEWLY COMMISSIONED MOCKUMENTARY SKETCH (watch here)ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to announce the release of ‘Jersey: A Musical Journey’, a spoof style documentary piece by award-winning comedian Christian Jegard introducing some ‘movers and shakers’ of the Island’s diverse music scene. ArtHouse Jersey commissioned the Jersey-born, Brighton-based comedian Jegard to create a new piece for their digital platform ArtHouse Jersey Presents following his recent critical success for his online sketches. The piece features a number of original characters including heavy metal guitarist ‘Shoulders Pallot’, former St Michael’s prep pupil and rapper ‘Lil’ Langtry’ and 90s dance music legend ‘DJ Puddleduck’. Lil’s grandmother (Granny Langtry) also shares her insights and feelings towards her grandson’s urban sound.ABOUT CHRISTIAN JEGARDJersey-born Brighton-based Christian Jegard is a stand up comedian, actor and writer who emerged on the stand-up scene in 2019, quickly earning recognition as a finalist in the 2020 Komedia New Comedy Awards and being touted as someone to watch by Chortle and the British Comedy Guide. He gained further acclaim for his online sketches as a finalist in ChortsFest 2019, and in 2020 was a finalist in the Musical Comedy Awards ‘Crooner’s Against Corona’ competition, runner up in the Comedy Crowd TV Showcase. In addition his sketch ‘Stay Inside’ won the British Comedy Guide’s Pro Video contest as well as being nominated for ‘Best Music Video’ at the Austin Comedy Film Festival in Texas.Following this success, Christian has been commissioned to create and produce original comedy sketches. He also writes for the Beano, where he produces a range of online content and jokes.Comedy aside Christian Jegard is a talented musician and is well familiar with the music scene in Jersey, largely thanks to his role as front man of the indie rockers ‘The Valentines’. The band were hugely popular with local crowds at the time, playing across most live music venues and festivals the Island had to offer.Director of ArtHouse Jersey, Tom Dingle, said “We’ve been fans of Christian Jegard’s work for some time and are delighted to have finally nailed him down to create a new piece written specifically for the Jersey public. We gave Christian a completely open brief and given his already widely recognised musical career and knowledge, it’s possibly not surprising that he chose to create a little bit of light-hearted fun around the music industry. Many may not realise the amount of work that goes into creating a sketch like this: developing characters, writing scripts, performing, filming, editing and even writing the original incidental music. We hope this sharp-witted, intentionally daft and highly amusing piece will raise just a few smiles for both people in Jersey, and further afield.”
