'Jersey: A Musical Journey' Part 2 has landed - comedian Christian Jegard is commissioned by ArtHouse Jersey for a four part series

ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to announce the return of Jersey: A Musical Journey. The arts organisation recently commissioned Jersey-born, Brighton based comedian Christian Jegard to write and produce a spoof documentary piece exploring 'Jersey's music scene'. The pilot was so well received that now they’ve gone one step further and commissioned three further episodes to complete the four part series.

In this second episode we meet St Ouen’s singer/songwriter/surfer ‘Anton Decque’, a ‘shy’ folkster, who writes material about ‘important things’, as well as Jersey-based protest songs such as ‘It Doesn't Matter Where The New Finance Centre’s Going, I’m Against It’, which was released to mixed reviews. His debut album ‘Hash In The Attic’, also received mixed reviews.

We then head over to the ‘Togetherness Festival’, the annual highlight in the local music calendar, run by local festival impresario ‘Graeme LeBreton’. He tells us about the challenges of programming a ten thousand strong festival in a field in Trinity, his regret about booking ‘A Little Bit of Monica’ star Lou Bega, and his exasperation with Jersey peeved punk popinjay ‘Billy Unrest’.

ArtHouse Jersey took the decision to commission three follow up episodes of ‘Jersey: A Musical Journey’ following the phenomenal success of the pilot on their digital platform ArtHouse Jersey Presents, which introduced us to up-and-coming artists such as Grouville bassist ‘Shoulders Pallot’ and local rapper ‘Lil Langtry’.

Despite the film’s Island-focused humour, it caught the attention of the British Comedy Guide who featured it on their website.

Director of ArtHouse Jersey, Tom Dingle said “It can be hard to know when commissioning comedy on the strength of a pilot whether subsequent material will deliver the same laugh rate. However, given Christian’s talent and dedication, we were confident that he’d deliver ever more stellar content to brighten up the day of anyone who came across it. Mirth aside, it’s also fascinating to see someone not only develop, edit and perform something like this themselves, but to write the lyrical music that delivers so many of the punchlines really is admirable. It’s great to see the glowing feedback come in and we already can’t wait to see and share episodes three and four with everyone in the coming months!”
